If you're new to MUCS and wondering who we are and what we do, you are welcome to come along to a rehearsal and get to know us!
There are no formal auditions for student members, although some music-reading ability or previous musical experience (either instrumental or vocal) is recommended and is a definite advantage.
MUCS is also open to staff, MU alumni, non MU students, and interested members of the wider community who want to sing in a quality choir. In rare cases, non-students may be asked to demonstrate a reasonable standard to ensure they are able to cope with the general standard of the choir, but all MU students are welcome to join with no formal audition.
MUCS prides itself on the quality of its performances, and the dedication of its members. All singers wishing to perform must attend a reasonable number of rehearsals, to ensure that they can perform to an acceptable standard. If members are not able to attend enough regular weekly rehearsals (usually around 75%) they may be asked not to perform, or to audition for the conductor to demonstrate their ability to handle the repertoire being performed.
For further information about joining MUCS or the musical aspect of joining, please feel free to email Andrew Wailes at conductor@mucs.org.au or contact the committee.
